Classic 25 Horse Race Problem :

You have 25 horses and a race-track on which you can race among at most 5 horses.Outcome of a race only tells you the relative speeds of the horses in the race.At least how many races are required to find 3 fastest horse?

Ans : 7 races

• Divide the horses into 5 groups of 5 horses each.(Randomly)
• Make a race among each group.(Total 5 races.)
• Now you can eliminate 2 horses from each group which came 4th and 5th in their group race.(Reason : Horses which are 4th and 5th fastest in their group can't be in top 3 among all horses.)(15 horses left)
• Make a race between winners of each group.(6th race)
• The winner of the race will be the fastest horse among 25 horses.(14 horses left - fastest horse has been decided)
• Now you can eliminate horses which came 4th and 5th in race and their respective group also.(8 horses left - fastest horse has been decided)
• The horse which came third in the 6th race is the only candidate from its group.(Reason:It is the fastest in its group.It came third so others in the group will not be fastest 3 horses.)(6 horses left - fastest horse has been decided)
• The horse which came second in the 6th race and its successor in its group are only candidate,the third horse of this group will be eliminated.(5 horses left - fastest horse has been decided)
• Make a 7th race between Second and third fastest horse of a group whose fastest horse came first in 6th race,Runners up of 6th race and second fastest of its group,Second Runners up of the 6th race.
• The result of the 7th race will decide the second and third fastest horse.

MBT AT SVIT-VASAD 2010

Our PPT time for MBT was 12.30.The PPT began at sharp 12.30.

The eligibility crieteria was -

1)10th,12th,Diploma(if any) required 60% 
2) B.E. aggregate 58%.


The exam consisted of 6 sections.All were objective types of questions.

Duration : 60 minutes
Questions : 100

The first 3 sections were  : 1)Verbal Reasoning(20 que.)
                                         2)Non Verbal Reasoning(35 que)
                                         3)Quantitative(15 que)
They will make total marks of this 3 sections.

The last 3 section were :  1)English-1(10 que)
                                       2)English-2(10 que)
                                       3)English-3(10 que)
 They will make total marks of this 3 sections.

The cut off was for first 3 section and last 3 section.There was no negative marking.

The paper was quite easy.But you need to be a little quicker than others.
The results were declared in just 15 minutes.Luckily i was selected.

There were two interviews:1)Technical 2)H.R.

I really performed poorly in Technical.First he asked about my family-background.As i said i m from anand.He asked me who was founder of AMUL dairy?i said i don't know.Then
H.R. : what ur fav subject.
me :operating system.
H.R. : whats the diff between linux and windows?
me: i dont know.
H.R.: how unix manages multi-user enviorment.
me : i don't know.
H.R. : difference between ROM and RAM.
me : i answered.
H.R. : what u know about MBT..
me :  bla..bla..
then he said u can go now...
After 15-20 minutes H.R. came and said i was not selected.

There was H.R. round after that.they will call u in group of 4 and u have to speak on your fav topic for 2-3 minutes.

FairMatrix Ahemdabad (Technical+Aptitude) Test

Fair Matrix offered package of 1.44 lack and job location was at ahemdabad.

There were series of test :
1)Aptitude Test (50 Question - 1 hour)
2)Technical Test (25 Question - 50 minutes)

Aptitude Test :

1)Six question in first section.One statement was given,which is true that we have to assume.3 conclusions were given and we have to answer which conclusion is correct.like either one or two or both or all of them.Options were given.

Example :

Statement : You can earn lot of money in business.But people still prefers jobs.

Conclusion : 1) Business is risky.
2) Jobs r available.
3) something was there not remember

Placement Paper of Torrent Power Ahemdabad,Surat

For IT/CP :

There were two test series:

1)Psychological test of 60 question.Time : 15 min
2)Technical+Aptitude of 100 question.Time : 60 min

Both were objective types.

1)Psychological test :

It was just a formality.Be honest and give answer.
Some questions :
for below questions options were : never, sometimes, rarely, often

1) You notice your negative behavior when u r under pressure.
2) You focus on your negative points rather than positive points.
3) You don't show ur emotions at work or home.

2)Technical + Aptitude test :

Passing criteria : 50% marks in both technical and aptitude section
Questions : 24 technical questions and 76 aptitude questions

Technical :

It was a bit easy. Questions were  based on Oracle,C++,JavaScript.

Some questions :
I don't the remember the options.

1)The syntax of for loop in java script ?
2)In c++,the default access specifier of class is ?
3)what is task of transport layer?


Aptitude :

Questions were very easy.But you need to attempt 76 so don't try to attempt the one which are a bit confusing.There were lot questions that took only few seconds to get solved.

Some questions :

1) Bhanu spends 30% of his salary on petrol and 1/4 of the remaining on food.If he spends 300 on petrol,how much he spends for food ?
Ans. 700/4=175

2)Series... 100,81,64,?
Ans. 49 (too easy)
One was the same as above but it was cube rather than square.

3)Clock started at noon.Now its 5.10 pm.What is angle that hour hand has covered ?
Ans. 155 degree

4)if today is monday.What will be the day after 48 days.
Ans. Sunday. (7*7=49)After 49 days it will be monday.
